A Guide to Professional Colour Services: Finding Your Perfect Shade

Choosing the right colour service is essential for achieving a look that complements your style and fits your lifestyle. In my studio, I prioritise hair health and longevity, ensuring every colour service is tailored to your unique needs.

Below is an overview of the core services I provide, including how they work and who they are best suited for.

Root and Full Head Tint Refresh

These services use permanent or demi-permanent oxidative dyes to provide consistent, beautiful coverage.

  • Root Tint Refresh: Ideal for maintaining your existing shade and providing 100% grey coverage. This service focuses on the regrowth at the roots to ensure a seamless blend with your mid-lengths.
  • Full Head Tint Refresh: Best for those looking for a complete colour change, going darker, or reviving a faded shade from root to tip. It provides a uniform, high-shine finish.

Best for: Full grey coverage and those who prefer a solid, impactful colour. Maintenance: Typically required every 4–8 weeks to manage regrowth.

Highlights and Balayage

I specialise in light-focused techniques that add movement and brightness to the hair. Note that toning is included in these services to ensure the perfect finished hue.

  • T-Section / Face Framing: A targeted service to brighten the areas around the face and the parting. Perfect for a “pick-me-up” between larger appointments.
  • Half Head Highlights or Balayage: Adds significant dimension and brightness through the top and sides of the hair.
  • Full Head Highlights or Balayage: A total transformation that provides lightness and depth throughout the entire head of hair.

The Difference:

  • Highlights: Strands are lightened from root to tip using foils for a structured, brightened look.
  • Balayage: A blended lightening technique that creates a soft, sun-kissed transition. This is ideal for a “lived-in” look with a very natural grow-out.

Platinum Blonde and Lightening

  • Platinum Blonde: This is a specialist chemical process to remove natural pigment and achieve the lightest possible blonde.
  • Corrective or Creative Colour: Price and time are determined upon consultation. These services are bespoke for those needing to fix previous colour or those wanting non-traditional shades.

Important Note: Lightening is an intensive process. I always prioritise the integrity of your hair and may recommend bond-building treatments to maintain strength and shine.

The Role of Toners and Glossing

A Toner is a specialised treatment used after any lightening service. Its acidic formula helps to close the hair cuticle, neutralise unwanted brassy tones, and add a precise reflects (such as ash, gold, or pearlescent).

While toners are included with my highlighting and balayage services, they can also be booked as a standalone to refresh your colour and boost shine between main appointments.

Why Book a Consultation?

Every professional colour journey begins with a conversation. This allows me to:

  1. Perform a Patch Test: Essential for your safety, required 48 hours before any colour application.
  2. Assess Hair Health: I check the condition of your hair to ensure it can safely achieve your desired result.
  3. Plan for Longevity: We will discuss a realistic maintenance schedule that fits your budget and time.

Ready to start your colour journey? I invite you to book a consultation at the studio so I can create a personalised plan for your hair.
