My Hair Kit: The Tools I Can’t Live Without

3 min read

Great hair starts with great tools. Just like a chef needs the right knives, I need the right brushes, combs, and electricals to get the results we both want.

Here are some of my absolute go-to hair tools—the ones I use every day in the salon and happily recommend for your at-home styling.

Foundational Tools

Combs

YS Park Combs: You might not think much about a comb, but these are a game-changer. They’re so well-made that they genuinely last forever, and they’re the only brand I’ll use for precise cutting and sectioning.

Sectioning Clip

YS Park Sectioning Clips: These are a perfect example of “buy once, buy well.” Made from strong, durable metal, these clips grip the hair without leaving marks, making them incredibly sustainable and a staple in my kit.

Round Brush

Fromm Round Brushes: For the perfect blow-dry, I rely on my Fromm Elite Thermal round brushes. They give me the control and tension I need to create smooth, polished, and bouncy results every time.

Paddle Brush

Denman: The Denman paddle brush is the ultimate multitasking tool. Its classic design and cushioned bristles make it perfect for everything from quickly detangling long hair to creating smooth, straight blow-dries. It’s incredibly versatile and a staple in every stylist’s kit for good reason. It comes in two sizes, the larger one is best for long hair.

Detangling Brush

Tangle Teezer: If you struggle with knots, this is your new best friend. The soft, flexible bristles gently detangle hair without snapping or damaging it. It’s a dream for all hair types but especially for those prone to tangles.

Styling Electricals

Straightener

Cloud Nine Original Straightener: This is my top pick for straighteners. Cloud Nine’s technology is all about using less heat to get better results, which means your hair stays healthier and shinier.

Hair Dryer

Cloud Nine Airshot Hair Dryer: Paired with my Fromm brushes, this dryer gives me amazing airflow for a fast and beautiful blow-dry. It’s powerful, but it’s designed to be kind to your hair.

Curling Iron

ghd Curve Curling Iron: For bouncy curls and waves that last, I turn to my ghd Curve. It heats up quickly and evenly, giving you consistent, long-lasting curls with a beautifully smooth finish.

Don’t forget to protect your counter surfaces with an effective heat mat—I absolutely love the IKEA Cork Pot Stands for this.

Investing in quality tools like these is one of the best things you can do for your hair. If you have any questions about which tools are right for your specific hair type, just ask me next time you’re in the salon.
