Bond repair isn’t a new idea in hair care, but not all bond builders work the same way. That’s why I use Epres, created by Dr Eric Pressly, the lead chemist and material scientist behind the original Olaplex formulas. With Epres, he has evolved the technology into a highly sophisticated, one-step system designed to repair chemical, thermal, and mechanical damage at a molecular level.

Repair That Doesn’t Stop When the Hair Dries

Most bond builders use solid molecules, which can only move through the hair while it’s wet. Once the hair dries, those molecules are frozen in place and stop working.

Epres works differently. Its patented Biodiffusion technology uses liquid molecules that keep moving through the hair, actively finding and repairing damaged areas for hours after application, even once the hair is completely dry. It rebuilds the disulfide bonds that form hair’s internal structure, the same bonds that chemical, heat and mechanical damage break down over time.

Acid-Free By Design

Unlike many bond builders, Epres is acid-free, so it doesn’t alter the natural pH of the hair. That matters, because hair swells and becomes more receptive to repair at a slightly higher pH, and an acid-free formula doesn’t fight against that. It also means it can be added directly into a colour, lightener or straightening formula without slowing down or interfering with the chemical service itself.

One Step, Every Service

Epres works across the board, colour, lightening, perms, straightening, extensions, even haircuts and blow-dries, and it takes just 10 minutes to actively rebuild the hair’s structure. It doesn’t add time to a service or require a separate step, it simply gets mixed straight into whatever formula is already being used.

Better for the Hair, Better for the Planet

Epres is vegan and free from quats, and its liquid-based, low-impact formulation was built with sustainability in mind from the start, not added on afterwards.

Stronger Hair, Every Time

Using Épres means every colour, lightening or chemical service I do comes with genuine repair built in, not just added shine or softness on the surface, but real reinforcement of the hair’s internal structure. It’s not something clients necessarily notice in the chair. They notice it in how their hair holds up afterwards.
