FAQ

Everything clients usually ask me

The easiest way to book is online. You can see all available slots 24/7 and join the waitlist if your preferred slot isn’t available. Get in touch if you need help at any stage.

Every appointment starts with a quick chat about what you want. For colour, you’ll need to book a separate consultation first if you’re new to me, haven’t had colour before, or it’s been more than 6 months since your last colour. Consultations are always free.

I’m available every Tuesday, Wednesday, Friday and Saturday. For the latest schedule, see my online booking system.

Yes, I’d recommend it. Most clients book their next appointment before they leave, so evenings and Saturdays tend to fill up quickly. You can book up to two months ahead.

It depends on the service and your hair, but as a rough guide: cuts every 4-12 weeks depending on length, tints, glosses and bleach every 4-6 weeks, highlights anywhere from 8 weeks to 6 months, and balayage every 4-6 months.

Things happen, I get it. But if you arrive more than 15 minutes late, I may need to shorten parts of your service or reschedule altogether, so I can keep the same standard of care for you and the client after you.

If you think you might be late, let me know right away (SMS or WhatsApp is best) and I’ll do what I can to accommodate you.

Yes.

Yes, I cut hair for clients of all ages. Colour services are only available for clients aged 16 and over.

Yes, and they’re free if you’ve had a haircut with me within the last two months. Just get in touch to arrange one.

Get in Touch

Yes. You’ll find all my colour services on my services page.

Yes. I’m responsible for your safety under the Health and Safety at Work Act, which includes following the colour manufacturer’s guidelines, and they require a patch test at least 48 hours before any colour service. It’s done as part of your colour consultation. You’ll need one if it’s your first colour with me or if your last colour was more than 6 months ago.

If you notice any redness, intense itching or swelling after your patch test, get in touch with me straight away. If the reaction feels severe, seek medical advice from your GP or call 111.

I apply a small amount of colour behind your ear, and you’re free to leave straight after. After 45 minutes, wipe it away, then keep an eye on the area for 48 hours.

That’s a question for your GP or midwife, so please speak to them before booking a colour service.

In most cases, yes, though the result depends on what type of dye was used. If you’ve used henna, please let me know, as it affects what’s possible. A consultation will give you a clearer picture.

Yes. Colour corrections are more involved than a standard colour service, so they always start with a consultation before booking the colour itself.

No. They’re very limited in range and not compatible with traditional colour.

Unfortunately not. I only use colours and products I’ve personally tested.

You’ll find my full price list on my services page. Prices are based on an hourly rate and everything is included, with no hidden extras, surprise add-ons or different charges based on gender. Consultations are always free.

I’m a one-man band, and short-notice cancellations really hurt my business as I usually can’t fill the slot. When you book, you agree to my cancellation policy, and I take your card details to enforce it. Nothing is charged in advance.

Cancellations and reschedules are free up to 48 hours before your appointment. After that, 50% of the service cost will be charged. No-shows are charged in full.

No. I only accept card payments, including American Express, and contactless options like Apple Pay and Google Pay.

If you’re not happy with your hair, that’s totally fine and I’m more than happy to put it right. Just get in touch within 7 days and don’t have it changed at another salon or at home in the meantime, as I won’t be able to fix it for free if it’s been altered.

To protect your health and mine, I may need to decline or pause a service if there’s a visible infectious condition (such as head lice or a scalp infection), or if hair is excessively dirty or matted. If this happens, I’ll always explain why and help you figure out the best next step.

Yes, you can buy gift vouchers through my online booking system

Yes. If you refer a friend and they book their first appointment with me, you’ll get 10% off your next visit.

I’m based within the Gossamer City Project, a 3-minute walk from Cambridge Heath Station and a 10-minute walk from Bethnal Green Station. The entrance is to the left of 24 The Oval. There’s paid on-street parking nearby and bike racks on site.

The studio is on the first floor, with a lift. As the whole site is built from shipping containers, doorways have a small step at the threshold (around 5cm). If you have any specific access requirements, let me know in advance and I’ll help however I can.

Yes, there are several toilets on site, including an accessible toilet. It has a small step at the threshold (around 5cm), so let me know in advance if this could affect you and I’ll help however I can.

It depends on the service. A haircut usually takes around an hour, while colour services range from one to four hours. You’ll see the exact duration when you book and in your confirmation.

Something comfortable. Just avoid roll necks, bulky collars or hoodies, as they can get in the way.

It depends on the service. I’ll let you know if there’s anything to do beforehand when you book or in your confirmation. If you’re ever unsure, just ask.

Yes, and Bavarian too.

Cats, dogs and giraffes are all welcome, though there’s a height restriction of 2.2 metres.

Because space is limited, I ask that you come alone where possible. I know that’s not always an option, especially with children, so just give me a heads-up and we’ll sort something out.

I love sharing my work, so I may take photos of your hair for my portfolio or social media. I’ll always ask for your consent first, and I make a point of keeping every client’s identity hidden because I care about your privacy. You can change your mind at any time and I’ll take it down, no questions asked.

I work mainly with Kevin Murphy, alongside a small selection of other sustainable, independent brands chosen for their performance and ethics.

Yes, every product I use is cruelty-free. I also don’t work with brands that sell in countries where animal testing is required by law.

I prefer to use my own, since I know exactly how they perform and work together, which helps me get you the best result. If you have a specific concern or sensitivity, just mention it and we can talk it through.

Yes, I keep a small selection of my favourite products in the studio. You can also find these in the online booking system under “Products”.
